Try a Blinz fold

I played the SCS Try a New Technique challenge today (TLC179)! This challenge was to try the Blintz Base fold. Apparently this is a type of origami fold, but it works great for framing in an image on a card (or a scrapbook page). Directions for that fold were kindly provided by Cook22 (all the way from Dublin Ireland!), right HERE. I still can't put the new Bella Rose DP down...so I gave this Blintz fold a try with it. It was surprisingly easy and something I will use again in future projects! Lots of August birthdays coming up : ) , so I pulled out the new Sock Monkey set and used the cupcake and "just for you sentiment". I did a little paper piecing with the cupcake. Love that technique...use it all the time! Click HERE to see a monkey card I made earlier this month with the same set & DPs : ) ! This set was a big surprise for me....I seriously did not expect to like it this much!!
This is going to be the shortest post ever, but that's it for me!! Thanks for stopping by... {{hugs to all}} !

Supplies for the card~ Stamps: Sock Monkey Paper: Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Pirourette Pink, Whisper White, Bella Rose DP Ink: Black Stazon, Chocolate Chip Accessories: Fiskar Cutter/Scorere (for score lines), Silver brads & eyelets, Pink rhinestones eyelets, Paper piercing tool/mat pack, Paper snips, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Cropadile, Dimensionals, Cuttlebug with small round scallop nestability

not a raffle : )

SCS is hosting a NON-RAFFLE to benefit Midwest Flood Relief efforts! It's a GREAT cause ... and those who donate will have a chance to win some GREAT prizes (details right HERE)!!! One of the MANY prizes in the prize gallery is a Divine Design Bound Book, which includes inspirational Scripture pages from the Scripture Chicks!! Each of the Scripture Chicks (Lori Craig ~ Make A Difference, Angel Wilde ~ Angelosity, Jami Sibley ~ More isMore , Taylor Van Bruggen ~ Taylored Expressions, and myself) contributed pages to be included in the book. Lori coordinated the effort , bound the book and made the beautiful cover!! Today's projects are the pages that I contributed : ) !

Among the other great prizes in the non-raffle prize gallery, is a Gift Certificate from ODBD : ) ... how cool is that! I {{heart}} my ODBD stamps!! I used Sing to the Lord (Psalm 98:1) on the first page and the second page is a remake of a card I made earlier this year with the stamp set, Light of the World. (there is a 1/2" border at the top of each page for the binding...finshished size of each page is 4 1/2 x 6).

If you love ODBD stamps, be sure check the ODBD blog this week for details on how you can win a FREE ODBD stamp set : ) !!!

My 3rd page is a computer generated verse...Proverbs 3:5-6. One of my all time favorite scriptures! If YOU love scripture and stamping, I'd like to invite you to join us for the Divine Design Challenge. You can read all the challenge details right HERE.

Pacific Point Blue

Today's cards all feature the new SU in-color, Pacific Point : ) ! I LOVE to color, plus it helps to pass the time if I anticipate having to wait (on a plane, in a
hotel, at a doctor's office, etc), so I bring along a little tote bag with some images and my Copics. Earlier this week, I took a few of those images out and made 'em into cards. The main images on today's cards, plus those fabulous Copic markers are available at Eclectic Paperie! I've collected these images over the past few months, so I apologize, but I'm not positive about the stamp names, but I'm sure Joy & Daisy over at EP could hook you up with the right stamps : ) !! The first card combines Tempting Turquoise with Pacific Point...a great crisp, clean combo when combined with the white! I also used my new SU Scallop Edge punch for these first 2 cards. That is one fantastic little punch, I've only had mine about 2 weeks and I've used it a ton already!!

This next card combines Pacific Point with Chocolate Chip (and the new Bella Rose DP) ~
And here's Pacific Point with Kiwi Kiss plus that amazingly versatile Bella Rose DP yet again! (finished size is 4 1/4 square)~ Supplies for the first card~ Stamps: 3 Cats (Penny Black?), Sock Monkey (SU, sentiment), Priceless (SU, tiny flower behind brad) Paper: Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, White Ink: Brilliance Graphite, Pacific Point Accessories: Scallop Edge punch, Turquoise brads, Pumpkin 1/4" gg ribbon, Paper piercing tool, Sakura clear glaze pen, turquoise Stickles, Copic Markers, Spica clear glitter pen

Cross of Christ Challenges

I had time for just 2 of the SCS challenges this week, did both last night, late into the wee hours : ) ! This first one was for one of the super fun challenges being hosted by the Dirty Dozen Design team & Alumn over at SCS this week...you can check out all the fun right HERE! I played Jody's, It's All About The Ribbon challenge, and you can see those details right HERE!! I used some sweet pink with brown polka dot Amuse ribbon and built the card from there. I am such a ribbon addict. I knew I only had time for one of the DD challenges, and since I have TONS and TONS or ribbon (and never enough!) this challenge was the perfect one for me : ) !!
I used my brand new ODBD Cross of Christ set for both of today's cards. Funny story about that stamp set. It took a vacation to Hawaii before coming to Oregon (wish I could have gone with it). Couldn't figure out why it hadn't arrived and when Kelley tracked it, it was in Honolulu. It arrive last weekend, tanned and relaxed, and I introduced it to some ink last night : ) ! Great stamp set designed by one of our DT members, Dina...you can read all her and this fantastic stamp set plus see the other new releases right HERE!! This card is for a sweet lady whose husband went home to heaven a few days ago. I'm playing piano at his memorial service later today. I wanted to make her an extra special card, and these colors and embelishments all reminded me of her. I used yesterday's sketch challenge at SCS (SC186). I used some of the Prism Silver Metallic cardstock and ran it through my cuttlebug with the textiles ef. That cardstock is fantastic, and it embosses beautifullly too!! I pulled some white scalloped ribbon out of my stash...have no idea where I got it but it was perfect for this card. See, that's why a girl can never have too much ribbon, ya just never know what you're gonna need : ) ! I used some tiny crystals on the cross and slightly larger ones on the corners of the card and on the flower. They just don't photograph well, but irl, they have the most amazing sparkle (I got mine at Walmart in the craft/jewelery making department).

Supplies for the first card ~ Stamps: Cross of Christ Paper: Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Bella Rose DP, White Ink: Chocolate Chip & Pink Pirouette Accessories: polka dot ribbon (Amuse), Scallop Edge punch, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Dimensionals

Supplies for the first card ~ Stamps: Cross of Christ Paper: Perfectly Plum, Pale Plum, Whisper White, Silver Prism Metallics Ink: Versamark Accessories: Silver ep, heat gun, Cuttlebug with textiles ef, 1/4" circle punch, Crystals, Ticket corner punch, Flower from Pretties Kit, White scalloped ribbon & Silver stretch cord, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by : ) !!!

Something Old & Something New

Here's a card featuring my favorite "old" 07-08 in-color, Purely Pomegranate along with my favorite "new" 08-09 in-color, Pink Pirouette!! I also used the new DP, Bella Rose (love, love, love that paper!!!). We'll be saying goodbye to the 07-08 in-colors on August 10th, so it's time to stock up on anything that you can't live without. I really appreciate getting a few weeks to work with both the old and the new in-colors...gives me a better idea of exactly what I need to stock up on as it retires. The retired SU accessory list was released today, if you'd like to see it, just email me & I'd be happy to pass it along! BTW, if you want to see a close-up of the image, just double click on the photo.
This card is for my nephew Bobby & his new bride Ashley : ) !!! They were married in May and will be in town this week for a wedding reception! I'm helping with the party planning and decorating...one of my favorite things to do! Bobby's in the Airforce and has been stationed in Florida, but he and his new bride will be heading to his new base in England after the reception. What a fun & exciting time for them!!

The inspiration for the layout of my card came from the Great Swaps Girls blog...the featured swapper this week is Arin Burdo! You can read all about Arin right HERE and see the card I cased from her wonderful SCS gallery right HERE!!

I'm trying out a new template for my blog...what do you think? I may change it back or to something entirely different. I've been blogging for about 8 months now and decided it was just time for a change!
Here are the Copics Markers I used to color the bride & groom : ) ~
Supplies for today's card: Stamps ~ To have and to hold Paper: Pomegranate, Pink Pirouette & White cardstock, Bella Rose DP Ink: Brilliance Graphite, Purely Pomegranate Accessories: Scallop edge punch, flowers from the Pretties kit, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, 1/4" white gg ribbon, Kaiser self adhesive pink rhinestones, Copic Markers
Thanks for looking : ) ... have a MARVELOUS Monday !!!

Note of Love

Tomorrow is my wedding anniversary ( 11 wonderful years!) and this is the card I just finished for my sweet husband : ) ! I used several items that I pre-ordered from the upcoming SU Fall/Winter Idea Book & Catalog....the heart stamp is from the Sock Monkey set, the DP is from the Bella Rose collection, the cardstock is Baja Breeze (one of the new in-colors) and the Baja Breeze button is from the button bouquet assortment! I'm lovin' every single sheet of that gorgeous DP paper. I'm on my second pack already and it's only been a week...now that's love!!
I used the paper piecing technique to add the polka dot DP to the stamped hearts. It's one of my favorite techniques. Beate's done a great tutorial over at SCS...you can see that right here. Before getting my SU paper snips last year, I was always hesitant to do much cutting. Several friends suggested the snips and wow, what a difference! They make cutting, even in small, intricate spaces, really quick and easy. If you've been hesitant to try this technique or haven't had good results, you might check your scissors. Good paper scissors are a must and well worth the small investment (usually around $10).
I don't normally use a lot of buttons in my projects, but I've been admiring projects I've seen with buttons lately, so I thought I'd give it a go. I think my favorite was over at Carol's Stamp Like Crazy blog...you can see her fabulous "enjoy" card right here! Isn't that the best?!! I was so inspired, I pulled out a few close to cocoa buttons, one of the new Baja Breeze buttons, added a little hemp thread and adhered them onto the card with mini glue dots (those things are great!). I have to admit, the result wasn't quite as exciting as Carol's enjoy card, but I did have fun with the buttons, it was a good start. I'll be using them more often : ) ! The sentiment was a free set from Sale-A-Bration this year, Lots of Thoughts...it was just perfect for my Anniversary Love Note : ) !!!
Thanks for looking...hope your having a wonderful weekend :0) !!!

Brilliant : )

The first time I saw this brand new, soon to be released Sock Monkey set & the new Bella Rose DP from SU, I knew I wanted to combine the two and do a little paper piecing! This was a super fun card to make. Plus, I got to use more of the new in-colors, Riding Hood Red & Pirouette Pink. I've been using the new '08-'09 in-colors all week...I can't seem to put 'em away. The inspiration for this card started with a great little sketch from the Great Swapper Girl blog...be sure to surf on over and check it out!

Speaking of inspiration, I need to catch up on awards. I was honored to receive this award last week from both Patti & Emma! Thanks girls, you both put a HUGE smile on my face & totally made my day!!!

Give Thanks

Happy Wednesday : ) ! It's a very happy day for me because for the first time in weeks I was able to do the Sketch challenge at SCS!!! This is SC185, but I did change it from a rectangle to a square... I think that's okay? You can see that sketch and the challenge details right HERE! This stamp is part of the Give Thanks set, just released by ODBD! At first glance, you might just think of this as a Thanksgiving set (like the card I made yesterday), and it is a fantastic Thanksgiving set...but it's so much more!! The scriptures that come with this set can be used all year round. You'll be seeing more of this set later in the week!!
These cards both feature the brand new Pink Pirouette cardstock and Bella Rose DP, from the the upcoming SU Fall/Winter catalog. Pink Pirouette is one of the new in-colors and it is lovely. SU hit the nail on the head this year with those in-colors, I love 'em all : ) !!! And the new Bella Rose DP...oh yeah, it's gorgeous, every single sheet!
The second card also has scallops that were made with the brand new SU Scallop Edge Punch. It's super easy to use and makes beautiful scallops! It will also be available, along with the new cardstock & DP on August 11th when the new F/W catalog is released!! Hey, this is one of the perks of being a demonstrator, we get to pre-order some of the goodies and try 'em out. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it, LOL!!! I sponged some Pink Pirouette ink onto flowers from the Pretties kit and made them just the right color for the card!
Tomorrow, I have some tagging to do : ) ... and a few awards to give out! That's always fun. Thanks for stopping by & have a great evening!!

Thanksgiving in July

You know how some people start making Christmas cards in July? Well, why not start those Thanksgiving cards too! November will be here before we know it. Whew...I don't even know what happend to June and we're already half way through July! This is one of the 3 new sets available at Our Daily Bread Designs this month!! This set is called, Give Thanks, and you can see the entire set right HERE!! Due to a shipping glitch, I'm getting a late start on making my samples, but I did manage to make a couple cards tonight and I'll have more to show in the coming week : ) !! I got to try out some new cardstock for this first card. This bronze Metallic cardstock arrived in the mail today from ODBD and I let out a little gasp of delight when I opened the package. It is rich, shimmery and just plain gorgeous!! Available in several colors! I used the bronze as a layer behind my image piece. If you double click on the photo, you can catch a glimpse of that shimmer, but it's way better in real life!! I'll have more of the other colors to show you in the next week or two. Fun stuff : ) !
Another new stamp offered at ODBD this month is The Lord's Prayer. This one is offered ala carte, rather than in a set. That's a nice option...don't you think? Another great option...did you know that Kelley offers her stamps in either Smart Cushion or Wood mount? AND these are real, deep-etched rubber stamps, not acrylics, I really appreciate that!! Call me old fashioned, but I like rubber on my rubber stamps : )!! AND ~ Kelley is still offering FREE shipping on all orders over $50, now that's a great deal!!! Here's my card...it's a pretty simple one, but be sure to check out the rest of the DT's examples, there are some really, really pretty ones : ) !!!

The third set being released by ODBD this month was created by one of the girls on our Design Team...Dina! You can check out her amazing story, stamp set and some great examples from the DT, right HERE! Great job Dina, that stamp set is gorgeous!!!
Did you happen to notice the other new thing on today's cards? I'm sewing...that's new for me!!! I finally broke down and bought a sewing machine! I got the Janome Sew Mini available at Hancock Fabrics this week for only $39.99! I'm still learning, but these first few cards have gone pretty well...so far, so good!! I also used some of my new SU in-colors and Designer Paper (Bella Rose) on today's cards! Kiwi Kiss on the first card and Riding Hood Red & Pirouette Pink on the second. Aren't they awesome?? I'll have LOTS more of that to show you in the next couple weeks. The new in-colors & DP will be available on August 11th in the new SU Fall/Winter Catalog : ) !!
Thanks for stopping by...it's late and I'm headed for bed. You have yourself an AWESOME day : ) !!!

Happy Birthday Jake!

I made this card for a very special young man, Jake, who had his 8th birthday this week. He is one unfrogettable kid : ) !! And this is one Unfrogettable stamp set : ) !!! I sorted through my stamps yesterday and pulled out a few retiring sets that I may be willing to part with, but this is definitely not one of them. This is one of my favorites and it will stay in my stamp collection for a long, long time...maybe forever and ever, lol!! Here's the inside of Jake's card ~

My daughter Megan's been spending a little time in the stamp room. She's a big fan of the Unfrogettable set too...here's a creation she whipped up yesterday morning (it has my watermark, but it's her card). I swear, it's effortless for her! I love her cards, always bright, colorful and full of bling : ) !!! This one will be going to one of her friends...so she got to make it girly...pretty cute, huh? This stamp set is so versatile, it can leap from a boy card to a girl card by just hopping on over to a new color scheme, changing the embelishments...wha-laa, a toad-aly new look (oh...excuse the puns...it's late and I can't help myself, lol!!!).

I'm gonna keep this post short since it's 12:45 (pm) and time for some ZZZZZs ... THANKS so much for stopping by...nite : ) !!!

Divine Design BVC July

It's July 8th...time to post our monthly Divine Design projects : ) ! This month I chose Psalms 130:5 ~ "I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word, I put my trust". There is an awesome song my Jeremy Camp, titled, I wait for the Lord, that is basically this scripture put to music. Click HERE to hop on over to youtube to see that video and hear the song!! I used a sketch that I found over at the Our Creative Corner for my card...love that blog!!

I love visiting the other Scripture Chick's blogs and checking out their projects...these girls are SO inspiring: Lori Craig ~ Make A Difference, Angel Wilde ~ Angelosity, Jami Sibley ~ More isMore (Jami will be posting her project a little later this week), Taylor Van Bruggen ~ Taylored Expressions

For my monthly Divine Design project, I make a card, & my daughter Megan, picks a scripture and I make a bookmark for her. This month, we both chose the same scripture. If you'd like to play along with the Challenge, you can join us anytime (and I hope you do!). Just click here to see what we're doing and how you can get started !! If you upload to SCS, be sure to use the words BVC08. Here's the bookmark I made for Meg.... lots of shimmer and sparkle...Meg love glitter as much as I do, maybe even more :- ) ~

I don't know about you, but waiting is not my favorite thing to do. In fact, it's among my least favorite things to do. That's a big reason why I chose this scripture. If my internet pauses and I have to wait for more than a few seconds, I'm telling the screen to "come on!" while looking for something to do to make the wait more tolerable. I love efficiency and waiting just doesn't seem to fit anywhere into an efficient process. My attitude about waiting carries over to my relationship with the Lord. When I pray, I sort of expect an immediate answer. I want a full blown instant miracle : ) ! You know what I'm talking about. We've read about how Jesus touched people and they were immediately healed...I want that! Here's the problem, according to the bible, God has promised to answer my prayers, but nowhere do I find a scripture telling me the answers will always be immediate. I do find scriptures that indicate that sometimes I will have to wait, be still, seek, trust, hope and believe. I've really had to learn (and I'm still learning) this lesson over the past couple years with Megan's illness. It's not easy to wait. Especially when the stakes are high. But God is loving and faithful, and His answers are worth waiting for. Think about being hungry...I mean REALLY hungry. You walk right past the fast food places and arrive at the best restaurant in town. There's going to be a wait, but you know the Chef is the absolute best...your expectations are high, so you choose to wait. Finally you're seated, and your meal is served, course by course....and it's exquisite. It's perfect. Every bite is amazing. You could have skipped the wait and buzzed through McDonald's for a big mac 'n fries, but it wouldn't have been the same. Good things are worth waiting for. God's answers are worthing waiting for. That's my 2 cents for the day : ) !

Here's a close-up of the bookmark, so you can some of the sparkle and shimmer that Meg requested : ) ! BTW, if you're a fan of Scripture & Stamps...then you'll want to check back soon! I should be receiving some brand new stamps from Our Daily Bread Designs any day now : ) & when I do, I'll have some examples to show you! Kelley just keeps crankin' out one awesome set after another!! If you haven't been to her site yet {{gasp!}}, it's worth the visit. She's got Scripture stamps and a whole lot more!

Riley on vacation

Hey : ) ! Hope my friends in the US enjoyed a Happy 4th of July yesterday...and the rest of you are enjoying a great weekend!! Thanks to Carol, from Stamp Like Crazy, who tagged me...I'll be thinking of 7 random things to share with ya'all soon, but for now, hop on over to Carol's blog, read her fun & random facts! Lots of talent & creativity to see at Stamp Like Crazy....thanks for the tag Carol : ) !!!!
Today's birthday cards were made for 2 guys with July birthdays. They're tropical, but still manly (I think?? lol!). I was able to stamp a couple of Riley images from a friend (thanks Cami!) and they were the perfect coloring project for vacation! The first card features the stamp, Hula Riley, available at Eclectic Paperie. I used my Copics to color, and you can find a great selection of those, at great prices, at EP too. The sentiment is from the SU set, Think Happy Thoughts, and the DPs are from the SU Simply Scrappin Kit, Summer Days.
And this next one features the "Hammock Riley" stamp (available at Eclectic Paperie). The sentiment is from SU's set, Bitty Birthday, and punched out with the Round Tab punch.
That's it for today. Our trip to OHSU was very good (thanks for the prayers!)...the doctor had some great insight into Meg's illness, and we are hopeful that we're very close to a diagnosis and treatment plan!!

Sweeet

I found a great new blog recently, Our Creative Corner! And it's quickly becoming one of my favorites!! They're doing some GREAT challenges, including this sketch challenge from a couple weeks ago. I found it the day before we left for vacation, so I'm a little late in playing, but it's such a good sketch, I just had to give it a try. Click HERE to check out that sketch and some very inspiring examples : ) !!! Thanks to all the Creative Corner girls for putting together a fantastic blog and fun challenges too!
The image from today's card was a little bonus I received with an Eclectic Paperie order. It's "Tiers of Treats" by Stampendous. Isn't it yummy?? I colored it while on vacation last week...when I was a little girl I always traveled with a coloring book and crayons, now it's stamped images and Copics : ) !!!
Speaking of sweet...here's a picture of my sweet girl, Megan, in Cabo last week! We're packed up (again) and heading to a doctor's appointment in Portland tomorrow. Still looking for answers to her ongoing health challenges. Would appreciate your prayers.

That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by & I hope you have a WONDERFUL Day : ) !!!
