Simple Prayers

The first time I saw this stamp set,I knew I wanted to make a simple black and white card with the images. My sweet friend, Nancy Littrell, shared her Fifth Avenue Floral set with me (thanks Nance!). She showed me some fabulous, colorful cards she's made with it. Her SCS gallery is full of amazing creations, you can see them all right HERE. Even after all her colorful inspiration, my card ended up being, black & white :) ! I love the simplicity of it and the clean lines. I used the Praying For You sentiment from the Thoughts and Prayers set, along with the new scallop oval punch (available April 1st in the Occasions Mini Catalog). Here's a closer look at some of the dimension on the card, created by stamping an extra flower, cutting it out and popping it up on Dimensionals, as well as adding touches of Clear Spica Glitter Pen & Crystal Effects to a few of the petals. Those are two products that I use all the time and the good news is, they're really inexpensive. A bottle of Crystal Effects costs about $6 and will last you a long, long time. And those clear Spica Glitter pens are a steal at less than $3 each. If you're looking for an inexpensive way to add shimmer and shine to your cards, I highly recommend both.

During Nancy's visit, she also showed me her new Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die.

I ran a few through my Big Shot, then promptly added one of the dies to the SU order I was placing that evening. It creates an instant, gorgeous floral impression that can be layered or used alone to create a card. You can see the simply gorgeous card Nancy created with it right HERE. Isn't that stunning?

These are two styles of cards that I'm likely to make extras of to keep in my stash. A great card to send off to a friend, to let them know you're thinking of them and praying for them.

Thanks for stopping by. My classes begin tomorrow, so my posts will be a little less frequent, probably once or twice a week during Spring Term ... it's gonna be tough, but studying is going to have to come before stamping :) ! Have a great week.

We Three Kings sneak peek

One last sneak peek at some of the newest Our Daily Bread Designs Stamps :)! They'll all be available this Wednesday, October 1st! The set I'm using today is We Three Kings. This first card uses some of my favorite, traditional Christmas colors, Real Red & Old Olive. For some reason, the sentiment looks blurry in the photo, but is completely crisp irl...not sure what happened there, one of those digital camera mysteries...it looks great till I upload it...weird, huh?! Also used my brand spankin new Top Note Bigz Die, one of the exclusive dies made by SU for the Big Shot :) ! It makes those little perforation/paper pierced details for you...it's so easy...I love that machine!! Plus the Top Note die is a great size for an image piece (it's about 3 3/4 x 4 3/4", point to point).
Here are the Copics I used for the image. I kept the coloring fairly simple and created shading with the red and green by coloring on layers and using a Red, Gold & Clear Spica glitter pen and Sakura clear glaze pen. This card has some nice, clean simple lines, made with Night of Navy, Silver & White. I used my Scor-Pal to create dry embossing lines around the image piece and around and under the sentiment. This was my first time trying this technique with the Scor-pal and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. Because of the simplicity, this is a style of card that could be mass produced for Christmas cards. I always save some of my extra special, more detailed cards for our closest friends and family, but the other 50-60 cards that get mailed out need to be much simpler...like this one!

This last card uses some non-traditional Christmas colors (Pacific Point & More Mustard)...I was experimenting a bit with color, but I think its works? I'm sure I can find someone on my Christams card list who won't mind non-traditional colors...infact, I can probably find someone who would prefer that ;)

Happy Friday

Muffin was wondering why the cards always get posted first and her photos come at the end...so today, she gets her picture up first ; ) !
Okay, now that you've seen Muffin in her tutu, we can move on to a couple stamping projects. Both feature Not Quite Navy cardstock & Designer series paper (from the hostess pack). It's a color I tend to reach for more often in the fall. I've been working on some fun swap cards with the Crazy for Cupcakes set, using pinks, browns, pumpkin...but thought it would be fun to try and make a "man" cupcake birthday card...so this is it.
And next, a little Pillow Box, made with the Big shot. I really like that die...it's perfect for a quick, easy little treat. This time Not Quite Navy is combined with Bravo Burgundy, another favorite fall color. Also used my new Wide Scallop Punch & Define Your Life set.
In case you haven't seen
the Big Shot yet...here it is ~

That's it for now... my daughter, Katie, & her husband are coming for to visit for the weekend, so this will be it from me for a couple days : ) ! Have a super weekend & I'll have some fun NEW things to show you next week!!

Simple Pillow Box Thank Yous

These were super quick little Pillow Boxes that I cranked out with my new Big Shot today! I stamped the first one with some Eastern Blooms flowers then used my new Curly Label Punch & coordinating Cute & Curly stamp set to create a quick thank you label. Then I punched a couple slots with my horizontal slot punch & created a simple little flower with my Boho Blossoms punch & 1/4" circle punch. I added some 1/4" pumpkin pie gg ribbon...and whaa-laa...I was done! A little pouch of candy corn is inside (I LOVE that stuff!). These were all more or less scrap projects. I used cardstock & DP that were left over from other projects I've been working on. It was kind of fun how the colors all worked together...the pumpkin ribbon just tied it all together. For these pillow boxes, I added a layer with my new Wide Oval Punch under the Curly Punch, and ran some Sweet Always DP through the Big shot & it worked awesome!! That Big Shot is one sweet machine : ) !!! One thing I did find in making these pouches, is you really need to use Sticky Strip to hold that long edge of the pouch closed when using cardstock. The DP pouch held together fine with my roll-on adhesive, but the cardstock really needs that extra hold that Sticky Strip gives.

By the way, beginning this week, if you're interested in purchasing SU products, or finding out what's new with SU...you can do so through my business website...just click HERE to see all the latest SU news and shop on-line (the shop online feature is at the upper right side of the screen when you get to the site)!!
