Note of Love

Tomorrow is my wedding anniversary ( 11 wonderful years!) and this is the card I just finished for my sweet husband : ) ! I used several items that I pre-ordered from the upcoming SU Fall/Winter Idea Book & Catalog....the heart stamp is from the Sock Monkey set, the DP is from the Bella Rose collection, the cardstock is Baja Breeze (one of the new in-colors) and the Baja Breeze button is from the button bouquet assortment! I'm lovin' every single sheet of that gorgeous DP paper. I'm on my second pack already and it's only been a week...now that's love!!
I used the paper piecing technique to add the polka dot DP to the stamped hearts. It's one of my favorite techniques. Beate's done a great tutorial over at SCS...you can see that right here. Before getting my SU paper snips last year, I was always hesitant to do much cutting. Several friends suggested the snips and wow, what a difference! They make cutting, even in small, intricate spaces, really quick and easy. If you've been hesitant to try this technique or haven't had good results, you might check your scissors. Good paper scissors are a must and well worth the small investment (usually around $10).
I don't normally use a lot of buttons in my projects, but I've been admiring projects I've seen with buttons lately, so I thought I'd give it a go. I think my favorite was over at Carol's Stamp Like Crazy blog...you can see her fabulous "enjoy" card right here! Isn't that the best?!! I was so inspired, I pulled out a few close to cocoa buttons, one of the new Baja Breeze buttons, added a little hemp thread and adhered them onto the card with mini glue dots (those things are great!). I have to admit, the result wasn't quite as exciting as Carol's enjoy card, but I did have fun with the buttons, it was a good start. I'll be using them more often : ) ! The sentiment was a free set from Sale-A-Bration this year, Lots of Thoughts...it was just perfect for my Anniversary Love Note : ) !!!
Thanks for looking...hope your having a wonderful weekend :0) !!!

The buttons are so cute on this card. I've been in a button phase too..must be a hopping renewed trend!!

Your cards take on a very polished final product. I always love the little details and this card is no exception. The buttons, hemp thread, colors and paper piecing, as well as piercing really bring it to a full circle...and with that layout....magnificent!

=) Congratulations on 11 years!!!

I LOVE this one, Nancy! makes me miss my buttons! I used to make dolls out of buttons so I have thousands! I shouldn't ever have to buy another button in this life. LOL I kept a few out though so may have to use them soon! I enjoyed Carol's card too. And I need a new pair of snips myself. I keep putting that purchase off for other things. LOL
