Eclectic Valentine

I don't know about you...but Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays to make cards and treats for friends and family. It probably goese back to my gradeschool days when we made those giant paper envelopes to be mailboxes for our Valentines. There was pink and red construction paper, cut-out hearts...oh, and there was usually glitter involved, I LOVE glitter! We exchanged Valentines with ALL our classmates. It didn't matter if they were a friend or not....everyone got a Valentine. Then on the big day, we opened those 25 little envelopes and read each one. Some included candy, some had riddles, some just had our classmates names...it was just so fun!!! It touches on what I still love about stamping and mailing cards to friends and family. Wouldn't it be great to go out to our mailbox one day and find 25 personal, handwritten notes from our friends? I can't do a lot about what comes in my mailbox, but I can do a whole lot about what goes out. So, I'm starting on my Valentines, so that next month, there will be some folks who open their mailboxes on Feb 14th to find an envelope with a little card enclosed that says .... you are special to me = ) !
As for my Eclectic Valentine card...it's for my DH! I had so much fun making it. It's from Julie's mojo madness challenge sketch (fun, fun sketch!). My SU shipment with new DPs hadn't arrived yet, so I found myself digging through old scrapbook papers that I had stashed away. I found some awesome papers I didn't even know I had (gotta love that!) and pulled out some chipboard hearts and just started playing!
My gold Zig Painty Pen is really the star of this project. It might be a little hard to see, but it was used on everything from the edges of my chipboard to the edges of my organdy ribbon. What I really wanted, was sheer ribbon with gold edges, but I didn't have any...so I made my own! I just took that Zig pen and drew gold edges on my ribbon and it worked beautifully!

Supplies for my card ~
Stamps: So many Sayings (retired SU hostess)
Paper: Rose Red, Choc Chip, Kraft, misc handmade paper, Kaleidoscope dp
Ink: Versamark
Accessories: Gold ep, Heat tool, Zig gold/silver Painty Pen, Word Window & Photo Corner punches, CB d'vine swirls embossing, gold brads & cord, retired SU organdy ribbon, Paper piercing tool, Cutter Kit/distressing tool

Enjoy your weekend = ) !!!
