Happy May Day tutorial!

This is one of the projects that we made at my April workshops! Really easy and fun to make....you know how I feel about that combo : ) !! Makes a great May Day or Mother's Day gift, or just a sweet anytime surprise when you just want to brighten someone's day. You can make it with cardstock and stamped images, or cardstock with designer paper...I like 'em both. If you buy a 6 pack of plants and cut them apart, the pots are roughly 2" square and that's what I designed this flower pot around.

Here's how I made them~

Step 1: Cut (2) pieces of Cardstock: 3” x 11”
Step 2:
Score each piece at: 7/8”, 4”, 7” & 10 1/8”
Step 3: Fold all score lines with bone folder and adhere the 2 pieces of cardstock together where they overlap at the base of the flower pot. (see photo)

Step 4: Decorate the cardstock by either Stamping images onto the cardstock or adhering designer paper to the cardstock. If you're using DP, cut (4) 3 1/8" squares and (4) strips 2 7/8 x 3/4".

Step 5: Punch a hole on both ends of each flap (I used my Cropadile and set the depth gage to help keep the holes evenly placed)

Step 6: Use 4 pieces of ribbon (about 6" each) to tie the ends of the flower pot together.

Step 7: (Optional...for plant stake) I stamped my image & punched out a 1 1/4" circle, layered it up with 1 3/8" & Scallop circle, added a rhinestone brad. I taped a Wilton Lollipop stick behind the scallop image piece (I got my lollipop sticks at Walmart in the cake decorating/craft department), then layered up some dimensionals behind the scallop and added another scallop circle on the back. I tied a knot in a ribbon and added a glue dot to place it just below the scallop.

Wha-laa...you've got a cute little flower pot!

Supplies for the DP flower pot~ Stamps: Think Happy Thoughts Paper: Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, Whisper White & Afternoon Tea DP Ink: Wasabi & Sky Accessories: Green Rhinestone Brad, Double stitched Wasabi & Sky ribbon, 1 1/4, 1 3/8 & Scallop Circle Punch, Cropadile & Lollipop stick

Supplies for the Orchid flower pot~ Stamps: Think Happy Thoughts & Linen BG Paper: Orchid Oppulence, Barely Banana, Whisper White Ink: Orchid Oppulence, Barely Banana Accessories: Yellow Rhinestone brad, Eggplant 1/4" gg ribbon, Distressing tool from cutter kit, Cropadile
Wow...looks like I passed the 100K mark yesterday, so there will be some blog candy coming up next week!!
Thanks for stopping by, have a great evening : )
